Intro

Welcome to Japan. So you’ve finally decided to take a gap year or have a taste of working/studying abroad or even have met that special someone and decided to try living together in J-land. Whatever your reason for being here, Yo! Nihon-koku is here to help.

First, always remember that you’re not alone. In fact, the number of gaijins in J-land has been steadily increasing. For most it’s still a hit-or-miss situation, where one would come here and stay for a year and find themselves still here four years later and wonder how time had flushed down the toilet just like that. And others would absolutely hate being here. They get homesick and then decide there’s no place like home.

Second, try to blend in. Think like Japanese and mimic what they do, as in most cases, they would know how to act and behave especially if you feel that you're on unfamiliar ground such entering a shrine, etc. Let just say the actual art of mannerism and etiquette is best to be expeienced than read from the books. Also, bear in mind that there are some colloquial differences. What you do and say in Tokyo isn't really the same in Osaka.

Lastly, be yourself and to some peeps, they are able to find their real self here in J-land.
